Walking to Save Some Sea

I saw this exhibition at Landguard Fort in Felixstowe by artist Fran Crowe and was impressed by its effectiveness. Art need not be deeply obscure or oh so clever to be profound. The evidence of what she had collected on one mile of beach was shocking. I felt like I had come onto the aftermath of a crime scene. The chalk circles around the exhibits underscored that and packing the trash up as souvenirs to recycle it (where it might end up in the sea again) to raise money had nicely subverted my consumerism. She was getting money for old rope.
